Located in San Antonio, this backyard addition demonstrates how flexible, small-footprint design can support a growing family. Originally conceptualized as a detached 16'x8' ADU, the modern, shed-roof structure was programmatically integrated into the design to be fully attached to the main house. Because the addition links directly to the exterior envelope without a direct interior doorway, it preserves complete privacy and autonomy for the new space. This highly adaptable studio layout was designed to serve as a quiet workspace, a welcoming guest suite, or a passive income unit, all while framing a central family patio and serving as an elegant architectural backdrop for daily backyard life.
